| The rate listed is 1/8 your speed in kbps. For example, max dial-up speed is 56kbps. If you were downloading via dial-up your transfer rate would be listed as 7KB/sec. If your service you've signed up for is 512kbps then the max download speed you could get is 64KB/sec. |

| - Time of day - Usage during peak evening hours |
| - Shared connection use - If you use a wireless router and do not have your encryption turned on, someone else may be accessing your connection. |
| - Other programs running at the same time - Please make sure you close other running programs before running the above tests to get the best results. |
| - Computer hardware - Actual results may vary but doubling the amount of RAM in your computer often provides a 25% or greater boost in speed. |
